Six hundred portfolio DVDs ready to go to shows

Well, Christmas is well and truly over and it’s time for….the booking season. January/February is probably my third busiest time of year. Obviously the peak is Summer - July and August can be manic. Then there’s all the albums I need to prepare and family groups and children to photograph for Christmas. But third on the list is the very start of the year.

Now is the time that all the wedding fairs are held and my diary gets full with visits to discuss photography for this spring, summer and autumn and also to book the prime dates for next year (half the Saturdays in August 2008 are already booked!). This year I’ll eb attending a small number of shows but I’ll also be represented at a much larger number. Above you can see a batch of DVDs freshly printed, burnt and almost ready to go into bridal bags at shows. I love this DVD - it shows some of my personal highlights of the year and also a complete wedding. If you want to see what your own wedding could look like then short of sitting down with me and looking through abums this is probably your best bet.

If you attend any of the shows below then you should be able to pick up a copy and even meet me in person at some of the shows. If you can’t make any of them then just drop me an email and I’ll get one in the post to you.

New prices now available

It’s that time of year. I’ve taken a good long look at my packages and thought about what clients are actually ordering. Then I sat down and tried to work out how to give the best possible value. As always, you are more than welcome to discuss the exact coverage and albums that you would like but most clients actually prefer to order from the package price list. It also save you money - package prices always include a discount.

Here are some of the “highlights” from the new pricelist:

  • a new package called the “Expression” which actually costs less than any of my packages from 2006
for the first time I’ve introduced a “time limited” package. I love to work all day but for some clients that’s a little too much - there’s now an option just to have me cover a portion of your day.
lots of clients were booking a “Freedom” package and also adding on a disk of high resolution images - so I created “Ultimate Freedom” which includes this popular option and a DVD of the day too.
I’ve cotinued my very popular mid week discounts. If your wedding is on a Friday then you can take 10% off the package prices. On a Monday - Thursday you will save 20% (Bank Holidays excluded). This can save you up to £760! Even better, if you book an “Expression” package for any day between Monday and Thursday then you can tell your wedding story for a best ever price of £720.

The 2007 pricelist is available now for download below - I’ve stuck with my “fair booking” policy. It’s simply this - book a wedding in 2007 and you will pay 2007 prices for your package. It doesn’t matter when the wedding is (and I’m already receiving enquiries for 2010!) - it’s when you book that counts. That way you can budget for your wedding and know exactly what you are going to pay.

MyWeddingStory is now Carbon Neutral

Trees matter - MyWeddingStory is carbon neutral

It seems like every day I hear more news about pollution and global warming. The signs seem clear - the planet’s in a mess and we need to do something now to fix it.

So: New Year, new promise. From today MyWeddingStory will no longer be a net polluter of the planet. Of course I’ve been looking into reducing our carbon footprint for a while now - I drive a very fuel efficient car, all correspondence is moving to recycled paper, I only use rechargeable batteries and actively seek local suppliers where possible. However, some pollution is inevitable. I need to get to weddings, I need to heat the studio, run the computers, charge the batteries and at the moment my albums are flown halfway across the world.

From today, I’m going to work out how much pollution MyWeddingStory produces every quarter and buy carbon credits from the Carbon Neutral Company - this company specialises in offsetting pollution. I’ll buy carbon credits equivalent to at least 110% of the pollution that MyWeddingStory produces.

To celebrate this, I’ll also be dedicating trees to all by brides and grooms. Just mention this when you book and I’ll dedicate two trees in your name in MarryMeWood in Devon - I’ll even send you a map so you can go and look for them. Just don’t carve your names in them.
