Francis and Colleen’s wedding at the Lansdowne Club

I love working in Kent. Registrars are cool and relaxed, venues are fantastic and it’s just so much easier to get around. It’s still great to pop into London now and again though. Of course you have to plan things well to avoid the traffic, find somewhere to park, make sure all your gear is easy to carry and take an assistant. The drive back in the evening can seem pretty long too - but it’s always worth it with people like Francis and Colleen and venues like the Lansdowne Club and this “little” church on Farm Street.
A Kent Village wedding - Katherine and James

Like a lot of Kent villages, there are really only two important buildings in Lynsted. There’s the church where our lovely wedding for the day was taking place, and then there’s the Black Lion next door. Where I found James and his groomsmen.

After a few quick photos, I went back to the house to catch Katherine just before she left. Her parents have a lovely garden and I took some pictures of her and the bridesmaids amongst the apple trees. Then it was back to the church in a rather lovely Austin driven by Steve.

The ceremony was lovely - more pictures of this will follow. But even I was taken unawares when the vicar asked his congregation who they thought was the most important person there. i suspected a trap when he said “the photographer” but he was being completely genuine - he told everyone that after the day was over and all the champagne drunk and cake eaten all that would be left would be the pictures. It’s something I’ve talked about many times before but his sermon couldn’t have suited me more if I had paid him rather than Katherine and James.
After the service, we went over to Sharsted Court which looked fabulous with fluffy white clouds in the sky on a perfect day for a wedding party.

As I always like to, we found a little time to explore the grounds and take some relaxed portraits with Katherine and James. They were adamant that they didn’t want any of the stereotype “cheesey” shots. Here are a couple of my favourites.

You might remember my post about the two day wedding fest. Well Karen an Tony are now back from their honeymoon in Venice. I met up with them yesterday and showed them their DVD on Tony’s huge projection TV screen - they loved them and couldn’t wait for me to leave so they could watch it all over again ![]()
Two days, two venues, 616 pictures now online. You can also catch one minute teaser shows of Friday and Saturday online too. Now you can check out just how pink the party was.
