Daniela and James - salsa in deepest Kent
June 24, 2007
Flowers, flowers, everywhere.
I met up with James and Daniela a few weeks before their wedding in the sleepy Kent village of Wrotham. Two things were clear -
1. This was going to be fun - James is a very laid back solicitor and Daniela is a vivacious Venezuelan - this was never going to be one of those quiet village weddings.
2. There would be flowers everywhere.
I arrived early and sure enough a top florist had travelled from Windsor and was spending hours dressing the church and the reception venue. To give you an idea, here’s the bridal bouquet…

The wedding itself was traditional enough - James’ family live just down the road from the beautiful church and Daniela chose to walk the 200 yards with her family and friends. The weather threatened but ever really started raining and inside the church all was peace and calm.

After the wedding things became a little more relaxed - organising groups of dozens of people to have their pictures taken is more art than science. Doing it when a large part of the group don’t speak English and everyone just wants to start dancing can be a challenge!
Unfortunately, wet days in Kent villages don’t really agree too well with Jimmy Choos….

I went with James and Daniela to the old family home and found some time to take some romantic portraits before Daniela started telling me that she wanted to p-a-a-a-a-a-arty.

And party they did. Small pub + excellent band + lots of happy people = some serious salsa dancing.
By the end I think the bride and groom were nearly as tired as me!

Update: now there’s a slideshow online too!
