Lisa and Mark at St Augustines

Lisa and Mark outside St Augustines Westgate
Often by the time I have finished shooting a wedding, I feel like I know many of the people there. Maybe it’s my style (I tend to get involved with the shoot) or maybe it’s just because I’m there a long time - to tell the whole story of the day often takes me 10 hours. Either way, this one felt different - I knew a number of people at this wedding before I arrived.

Richard and Clare - a wizard wedding

July 31, 2007 | 1 Comment

There aren’t many vicars who can get a laugh by starting their sermon “when I was younger” and then going on to talk about Harry Potter (who bears more than a passing resemblance to Philip, the vicar at St Peters). But when he did it kind of set the tone for a very cool day.

Clare may have been concerned that her beautiful dress wouldn’t allow her to sit elegantly in the church, but as you can see everything went perfectly.

Julia and Ian - one day, 2 weddings and loads of Kiwis…

I dunno, weddings used to be simple - either church or register office. Now I seem to go to 2 day weddings, 7 bridesmaid wedding extravaganzas and the latest - two weddings in a day. Or more accurately a wedding and a blessing. Either way, with a wonderful couple, gorgeous weather and lots of chilled out friends both from the UK and the southern hemisphere it was a great day!

Ema and Itsuko - some studio portraits

Ema on a motorbike shot at the Models Studio in Bury by Jonathan Ryan

From the name of the site and the pictures that are often posted here, you might think that all my work is weddings. That’s close to the truth (especially in the “season”) but I find time for all kinds of photography. I particularly love working in studios where I get the chance to control and play with light.

My niece Ema (that’s the correct spelling - her father’s English and her mother’s Japanese) has just turned 18 and was in the UK with her friend Itsuko. I jumped at the chance to book a studio and take some pictures of them both as a belated birthday present.

Pro Am golf day at Cherry Lodge

I love shooting weddings - but some times it’s great to have a bit of a change. When a friend asked if I’d shoot a pro-am golf day at Cherry Lodge I jumped at the chance. Even better, we were asked to sell pictures on the day in support of Demelza House Hospice. This gave me the perfect opportunity for
1. A day out in the sun
2. Messing about with a camera (which is my favourite way to spend a day) getting some fun pictures
3. Help out a great charity.

Hackers again

Well there are some strange people in this world….

It turns out that my site is being used for a “competition” to see who can scribble their name on the most websites. It’s not my site that has been compromised - it’s the sever over at my service provider. They are working round the clock to fix it - in the meantime I’ve used a couple of tricks to get rid of their graphiti. I’m afraid it will mean that a couple of pages may look a little odd but this should all be fixed when my host’s technical people have sorted things out.

Sorry for the disruption - now back to the pictures…

Due to the hack attack, this has run down the page a little - first pictures from Abigail and Mike’s wedding yesterday are further down this page. Here’s a link - and if that doesn’t work for you due to the vandalism then just scroll down.

Hackers….

I’m sorry.

Some children seem to have come in here and put graphiti on my webpage - I was really pleased with the new site that allows me to post straight after weddings so that my clients and their friends can see their pictures immediately. All some people want to do is destroy that.

Early indications are that my webhost haven’t secured their servers properly and that all blogs on their system have been defaced. I’ll get onto this straight away and hope to clean up this mess very soon.

I’ll do what I can - in the meantime please just ignore the childish scribbling.
