Huge slideshows of real weddings
June 25, 2008
So I promised great things when we moved to the new server. Here’s the first.
Full screen slideshows.
Yep, absolutely hugely massive luxury slideshows in full colour filling a screen near you. Here’s how to get the best from them.First of all click the “pictures” link at the top of the page. That’s where they live.
You’ll see a grid with 6 spaces in it.
Just click on a picture that takes your fancy to start the show. It will load in the same window and look pretty cool - but that’s not the best bit.
As the show starts, you’ll see an instruction screen. Most of the buttons should be fairly obvious - press the “pause” key to pause or select one of the thumbnails at the bottom to jump ahead in the show.
But there are two very cool special buttons:
In the bottom left is a button that takes you back to the gallery. If you want to see another show then you can either wait until it ends (best unpause it…) or hit the gallery button in the bottom left.
In the bottom right is my favourite button - I call it the gorgeousifier. Click this and the slideshow will fill your screen! It looks beautiful on my 20″ widescreen monitor and should look pretty smart on your screen. Just press escape to return to non full screen if it all gets too much for you.
Of course all of this comes at a price:
- You’ll need Flash installed. Over 95% of our visitors use Flash and if the show just works for you then you have it too!
- We’re using pretty big files to run this (bigger than anyone else because our pictures deserve it
). That might mean a small delay as the pictures are downloaded. If the delay gets too much (and it should only really be bad on dial up) then go and make a cup of tea - the slideshow is cached and will run much faster the next time.
And if all of that’s too complicated just drop us an email or give us a call. If you think they look good on a monitor you should see the hi def versions in the gallery.

[...] it wasn’t just for the full screen slideshows (though I love them!) we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to upgrade the client [...]
