Emergency - what do you do if you’re ill?
April 17, 2008 | 1 Comment

One of the most common questions I get asked is “What if you’re ill?”
Many people will try to dodge this question because it’s a tough one - here’s the honest answer (and news of how this has worked out recently!)
Planning your wedding - time to call the pros?

I go to a lot of weddings. Probably more in a month than most people go to in a year. And they are all joyous occasions - really there hasn’t been a single one that I didn’t love attending. But some of them went more smoothly than others.
So, what else do you do…?

I’m a full time professional photographer. This is all I do which is cool because it means if my pictures are terrible then I starve
As it happens I’m doing fine so people must like my pictures! However, I often get asked “what do you do in the winter?”. Here are my usual answers - plus an exciting brand new project I have just started. Read more

Sell your pictures - 3 books and one GREAT source

Don’t worry - I’m not suggesting you sell your own wedding pictures! If I photographed your wedding recently then you want to drop into the gallery where you can buy your wedding pictures. No, this article is for all the new photographers who contact me asking how to move from photography as a hobby to making money from it.
The answer is it’s pretty tough - but one way you can make ends meet in the early days is by selling your pictures through stock libraries. This article will give you a kick start by suggesting 3 books that will give you clues about what to shoot, how to shoot it and giving you one great resource for the budding stock photographer.
5 (+1) great books no wedding photographer should be without

Working every day as a professional wedding photographer, it’s easy to forget how long it has taken me to learn my craft and the steps along the way. Of course the very best way to learn any aspect of photography is by doing it but days are short, it’s raining here in Kent and above all Christmas is coming. Here are 5 (+1) books that I have read myself and think that nobody wanting to get into wedding photography (or all kinds of photography) should be without.
Even more pictures from Carly and Gareth online

Well, not exactly more pictures, more like bigger pictures.
I love posting the online galleries at YourWeddingStory - it gives all the family and friends of my bride and groom a chance to see the whole wedding. It’s also great for my prospective clients. They can go and see every picture that I presented for a wedding rather than rely on my 10 best ever shots. They can also see the whole wedding story, start to finish. there’s just one problem with them - I have something over 3 thousand pictures online now. And as the summer season kicks in you can expect that number to rocket. For all kinds of technical reasons that means I have to keep the pictures small.
That works well with most pictures but if somebody is trying to choose a group shot for enlargement they like to see a bigger image. I’m looking into a permanent solution based on Zoomify (check out the cool preview of a Zoomify image below) but in the meantime I have just posted the group shots from Carly and Gareth’s wedding at a higher resolution right here.
Why? Because somebody asked me too
- if there are any pictures you need to see larger to help with your order then just drop me an email and I’ll see what I can do.
There’s a zoomify shot below. Zoom in scroll around, have fun!
