Fireworks at Leeds Castle
November 10, 2008 | Leave a Comment

I love this time of year. Dawn’s pretty late (which allows me to get on the beach for portrait sessions), there’s great colour in the trees and most of all there are fireworks!
Fireworks must be one of my favourite things to shoot apart from weddings. And fireworks at weddings must be best of all. Read more
Camilla and Mark - a wedding in a walled garden at Turkey Mill

Every once in a while, everything works out perfectly. Of course planning helps. Turkey Mill in Maidstone has one of the best “wet weather fallbacks” I’ve seen. If it rains then the wedding is held in the stunning Orangery.
But on Friday we didn’t need it. Not even slightly. A glorious July day, a beautiful bride, a suave groom and a bunch of people up for a great time in stunning surroundings. All I had to do was turn up and take pictures
Dancing lions and fireworks that stop traffic

Now you’d think that a few photographs at a private party in a client’s garden would be a quiet weekend for me. But the sign above gives you a small clue. It’s pointing to a h-u-g-e marquee. Fabulous private party? Yes. Small? No.
This was an anniversary party and the planners had been on the case for a year. Before the night was out there would be a string quartet, lion dancing, drumming, fireworks that stopped traffic, some of the finest wines the sommelier had ever handled and dancing. Lots of dancing.
Remember, remember….

Leeds Castle fireworks, originally uploaded by jon_nikon.
So….bonfire night has come and gone, but not without a “few” fireworks. Just like last year I was down at Leeds Castle photographing their amazing Mythical Fireworks Extravaganza for them. However, since the fireworks spanned the weekend I was able to get down to the Hop Farm as well and photograph not only their fireworks but the funfair and, err, a zombie metal band from Sidcup! (They are called Billy Rebel by the way.)

Annabel and Jaco’s pictures are now online

How appropriate for Fireworks night! Annabel and Jaco are finally back from honeymoon which means I can finally put their pictures online - including the rather wonderful fireworks ones.
If you’re a regular to the site then you’ll know that means there is a one minute slideshow as well as all 406 pictures online. What you won’t know is that you can view a draft design for their album online too. And you won’t know that because it’s a brand new feature that I just added to the site today!
